Deanna Wilcoxson Dodd, LCSW

Deanna Wilcoxson Dodd received her M.S.W. from Smith College School for Social Work where her research was in the use of spirituality and religion in the practice of psychotherapy. At two North Carolina State mental hospitals she specialized in geriatric psychotherapy. While in UVA's Counseling and Psychological Services Department she worked with graduate and undergraduate students, where she also advocated for ethnic and sexual minorities. At Duke University's in-patient psychiatry unit she implemented crisis interventions, conducted brief therapy, and engaged in grief and bereavement work. Her work includes individual, family and group treatment modalities. She also works with patients with eating disorders. She brings her earlier experience in the business world, the arts, and organizational training to her work.
